THOUSANDS of cyclists battled the weather yesterday (Sunday) for the second Wight Riviera Sportive event.
The atmosphere was buzzing from the go, with a mass start lead out from Yarmouth harbour front leading into the 25km closed road Avant loop. Riders took in the sights and sounds of the fabulous locations such as Freshwater Bay and the joys of the West Wight countryside before heading off to the open roads of the garden Isle.
To the rider’s misfortune, the rain started to drizzle causing the roads to become wet and slippery, making for quite a round-the-island challenge.
