Reform’s 2024 general election candidate for Isle of Wight East, Sarah Morris, says she is heartbroken after being prevented from standing for the party as a local councillor.
Sarah, who came 2nd in the constituency last year with 7,104 votes, has confirmed she failed Reform UK’s vetting process – but has not been given an explanation as to why.
She has claimed the party has changed beyond all recognition and has made it impossible for her to stay. Island Echo reported on her departure from the Isle of Wight branch last month.
The situation has not, however, led to Ms Morris’s departure from politics. On 1st May she will be standing as an independent candidate in the Lake North by-election.
The former chair of Reform UK Isle of Wight has said:
“(Reform UK) failed me on vetting to stand as a local councillor after letting me stand at the general election.
“People have said it’s because their vetting policy is now stricter, and I assume I have failed because of that.
“I don’t know why I failed – I have repeatedly requested the reason and have been refused.
“I have applied for the information via the Information Commissioner’s Office and HQ ignored my request.
“I put a lot of time, money and effort into Reform, and to have it thrown back in my face is heartbreaking.”
Sarah like all of the other party’s they just want “yes men and women”
Given some of their MP`s and candidates revealed records one has to wonder what impedes her standing ?
How can you be “heartbroken after being prevented from standing for the party” and the party has changed beyond all recognition and has made it impossible for her to stay? Did the party not want her and her denouncement is sour grapes or what. Seems that for all Reform candidates at whatever level it is always about them and not those they may represent if elected.
Ha ha ha ha ha…..ooops sorry. Did I say that out loud?
What a state the country would be in if Reform were in
Power, as if we aren’t suffering enough with this
current Labour Government.
I never thought I would say that we were better off with
the Conservatives in power.
