A traditional Lithuanian woodfired sauna has opened to the public this week at Compton Bay, as part of Rob and Josie Da Banks’ wellness brand offering, Slow Motion. Perched at the top of the headland owned by The National Trust, the mobile structure – that has capacity for 6 – allows users to have stunning vistas across the bay through a panoramic mirrored window, whilst enjoying the benefits ‘sweat bathing’ has to offer. Bestival founder, DJ and wellness guru, Rob da Bank, has commented:
“Not only are saunas amazing for your mental and physical health, but they are a great reason to turn off, tune out and drop in, being offline and connecting with friends and people in real life, whilst recharging the batteries. “Following last year’s success at Freshwater Bay, we are thrilled to be able to continue to offer an island sauna for the community and visitors to enjoy.”
Celebrated for its numerous health benefits, including relaxation, improved circulation, lower blood pressure, enhanced immune function, reduced joint pain and boosted mood, the popularity of the sauna has surged in the UK over recent years. With mental health in mind, the Da Banks will be looking to work with local charities and community-based initiatives that help and support people that would benefit from the sauna. The Slow Motion sauna at Compton Bay is open Thursday to Sundays, between 09:00-17:00. Prices start from £15 per person or £75 for a private group booking. 1-hour slots are available and sessions should be booked in advance at https://slowmotionsauna.as.me/schedule.php.

Couldn’t think of anything better than sitting with stinking sweating stranger’s and having to depart with £15 !. I’m on my way. Can’t wait till they open a public Jacuzzi, I can submerge myself into someone’s wee wee as well …….
You not been on a train for a few years then? Although costs more.
Just go to the Festival if you want some wee wee!
I’m surprised this is allowed on National Trust land, but I guess money talks?
Money show me the money….
Wellness is great……if you can afford it. £15 a pop puts wellness out of reach for many and just makes it a luxury.
Just sit in your kitchen with a large saucepan of water boiling on the hob for the same benefit.
That’s the average cost of three pints. Strange interpretation of luxury
wound up gone & never to return within 3 months
What does that mean?
It means the business will be finished & gone within 3 months, never to return! Thought it was pretty obvious.
Well, it’s a strange comment based on nothing and badly written
Well done for having the idea and doing it. Great initiative.
To save money, simply boil a kettle in your own shed and ask 5 strangers to strip naked and join you inside..
Wellness, man buns, recharge, tune out, enhanced immune function, boosted mood.? What rubbish.
It’s a steamy shed you are sharing with sweaty strangers and breathing in their germs.
Lol. I agree completely.
Hardly going to make a mint this scheme.
£15??? No ta .Not the place for it and its obv designed for rich folk with fees like that who like sit in other peoples stink n sweat…yuk
£15 is hardly expensive! How much would you like to pay Liz?
I suspect you are still living in the 1980s like many islanders. The same ones who complain about paying for the ferry and expect houses to cost £20K.
The Gen Z ers are the problem.
