I am not in any way connecting this accident to my following statement, and I hope that the rider recovers from the injuries that he sustained in this awful incident. We live in Wootton Bridge on a residential street that is used by many as a rat run to evade the High Street traffic lights. There is one motor cyclist who in my opinion is headed for a huge fall. He rides up and down our street at a speed more conducive to open road riding/driving, reaching speeds in my estimation of up to 50 mph. I am a motorcyclist who thoroughly enjoys the open road, holding a full licence from the age of 17 back in 1965. I never want to spoil anyone’s enjoyment, but I will film this motorcyclist one day and involve the police in his activities. It is dangerous not only to himself, but more importantly it is a threat to the safety of the residents who live in this area.
THOUGHTS AND BEST WISHES TO THE RIDER AND HIS /HER FAMILY AND HOPEFULLY A SPEEDY RECOVERY NO DOUBT IDIOTS WILL BLAME THE RIDER BUT UNTILL THE FACTS ARE FULLY INVESTIGATED LETS ALL KEEP AN OPEN MIND AND WISH THE RIDER A SPEEDY RECOVERY
It does state it is not thought to have involved any other vehicle,so on probability it would seem to be rider error
Could easily be that a fox, badger, cat etc ran out Infront of him, or that he was dodging another car who didn’t stop at the scene. Could be that his bike malfunctioned or he had a medical episode. There are a million possibilities of why it could have happened, even if no one else was involved. Until a reason has been released, don’t assume why it happened. Hopefully he will recover fully
the driver will get the blame first, then they take it from there
Will reserve judgment but seams quite a safe section of road to travel along 30mph, sometimes see a little mud and would assume with common sense would take caution knowing there are builders vehicles using this section. There is one idiot on a 125 with the very loud exhaust that we hear thrashing it along this section of road, appears to go along past school and around the Gort road area showing off most evenings and often during the day? Now if it is that person wouldn’t be surprised at all they came off.
The above report suggests it’s a bit more that just ‘falling off’….
schools are closed in the evenings ,here we go the anti biker muppetts are out in full voice . unless you have had the experience of riding a motorcycle then wind your neck in
A builders supply on the scene in seconds, as was a resident and driver. No evidence of another vehicle involved . The road is actually 40 mph limit. Far too fast for residential road But no suggestion of speeding on part of rider at this point . We can speculate all we like but only the rider can tell us what happened and he was unable to communicate in the immediate aftermath. It is true that farm traffic some month + ago in the immediate vicinity of the incident has caused mud to fall but that had been largely washed away in recent rains and was at a point the rider had not reached hope this poor chap is going to be ok.
Do you know who was at the scene plz as this was my dad on the bike
Hope he makes a good recovery.
I live across from where it happened but I didn’t see the accident. Hope he makes a full recovery.
Kelly.
There were several people there, myself included . Nobody saw what happened to your poor father but the first person there (my neighbour) was there within 15 seconds. I don’t wish to put other people’s names on here. Is there any way I can contact you without putting confidential info on an open page?
Everything that could appropriately be done for your father before the professional teams arrived was done. Your dad has been in our thoughts ever since and we all hope for a good outcome.
Thanku I’ve spoken to your neighbour and thanked him
Thankyou for your help yesterday morning
Hello Kelly. I was there within moments, but didn’t see it happen. I bought blankets & a large umbrella to help keep your Dad warm & dry. I kept talking to him to try & reassure him until the ambulance left. He has been in my thoughts ever since. I hope the outcome will be a good one.
Is he ok x I hope he is x
Hi Kelly, I was 2nd at the scene with your dad after the accident. We stayed with him until he was in safe hands. Police took all our informations phone and address. Is he ok?
The road is a 40mph which is too fast for that road there are children around and lorrys constantly going up and down
Hope he makes a full recovery. Fingers crossed. The road conditions were atrocious this morning.
This road is a 40mph limit. Beyond the scene of the accident (possibly even at the scene of the accident) the road hasn’t been adopted and is still in the process of being evaluated and signage erected.
Cars and bikes do come down at quite a speed.
There is a “dogleg” at the scene of the accident I wonder just how legal that actually is?
