Works to repair the beach steps at the Needles Landmark Attraction have begun this week. As previously reported by Island Echo, it was back in December 2023 that the Isle of Wight Council enforced an immediate closure of the steps due to fears of erosion of the support struts. Since then, the only access down to the beach has been via the use of the chairlift. Back in March 2023, the steps were closed for around a month as a result of further coastal erosion.
It is hoped that should the weather play ball, work will be completed before the summer season.

Needs compton bay doing soon..getting bad.
Is the work being done by contractors employed by the IW Council or by the Alum Bay attraction, including the chair lift operator ?
If the cost is going to be covered by the IW Council then that would raise the question as to why aren’t they repairing steps at, for example, Whale Chine.
What steps?
you go down on the badly fashioned rope, adds to the fun!
And the boat trip organisers in the bay could/should be chipping in.
Looks there doing a top job
Looks like there doing a great job
That’s not ‘The Needles Attraction’ that’s Alum Bay
