Premier Inn have opened the doors to their brand new hotel at Merrie Gardens in Lake, which will contribute over £11.5million into the local economy.
The 80-bedroom hotel opened on Saturday and has created 29 year-round jobs for Islanders. It is the chain’s second hotel on the Island, accompanying the slightly smaller hotel at Seaclose, Newport. Island Echo exclusively revealed last month that Premier Inn are set to open a third hotel on the Island in nearby Sandown.
Despite being located next to the Merrie Gardens pub, the hotel offers a breakfast, snack and dinner menu for guests.
Joni Cox, Operations Manager for Premier Inn Isle of Wight Sandown, comments:
“We are looking forward to welcoming guests to the town of Sandown and to spread the word of all that it has to offer. With our luxurious Hypnos beds, we want guests to have a good night’s sleep so that they can Wake up Wonderful for the day ahead. Positioned in a fantastic location, within walking distance to Sandown town centre and a short drive to the beach, the hotel will give guests everything they need to explore the area!”
An official opening is due to be held in the coming weeks. Island Echo will bring you more photographs and information soon!
