Police are trying to trace 2 teenage girls after receiving a third party report of a man making inappropriate, sexualised comments to them in Ryde.
It has been reported to Police that at around 20:55 on Thursday 19th May, the man in question approached the girls – who were described as being around 15 or 16-years-old – outside The Crown Pub and made sexualised comments towards them.
Police attended and identified and spoke to a man about this, who was subsequently made to leave the area.
Officers have been making enquiries to understand the full circumstances of this incident and are trying to identify the 2 girls.
Hampshire Constabulary want to speak to them about this incident and obtain an account of what took place.
One of the girls was described as wearing a tracksuit, and the other a rain mac.

A spokesperson for the force has said:
”Teams continue to make enquiries, including our Licensing Department who work closely with venues on the Isle of Wight to provide a safe environment for members of the public in the night time economy.
“We take incidents of this nature seriously and want to reassure the public that even in circumstances where no criminal allegation has been reported we still seek to challenge and take appropriate action against people who perpetrate this type of behaviour.
“We continue to encourage anyone who has this type of behaviour, or any suspicious incidents in their neighbourhood, to contact police”.
Glad the Police are doing their best to keep the vulnerable safe. Too many low lives now who emulate those from different cultures and won’t take no as an answer. Sex pests need to be dealt with early on.

Poulidor, you know who he means. As sad as it is, some cultures do treat women as something they can use for their own pleasure. And it’s engrained in their religion too. Shame that the cancel culture stops us talking about it and racists use it to attack them. Will never change until we can have an adult conversation about it.

Well said Fred. It’s not about girls and women having to expect to take the brunt of this kind of behaviour if they’re in the ‘srong’ place at the ‘wrong’ time. Girls and women’s space should be everywhere, and not have to expect sexualised behaviour on account of it.
I would not be surprised if the girls ignored it as they received these kinds of insults on a daily basis. In the 80’s I worked for the council. Some of the guys I worked with should have been locked up a long time ago. Unbelievable their attitude to women and things they would say.
Trouble is, though, ‘ignoring’ such comments has a bit-by-bit limiting effect on women and girls,
such as where they go, whether they feel comfortable going places alone, bearing the emotional impact of appearing not to mind, but underneath minding, and brooding over such comments in private.
Im am one of thise girls im 15 and me and my friend were walking up the road to catch the bus home as we were being follwed by this man it dosnt matter what time we where out and we were not hanging round the pub stop looking for excuses for this digusting man looking for underage girls to take advantage of
