Islanders are being asked to keep a sharp eye out for a moped that was stolen from Fort Street Car Park in Sandown overnight.
The maroon-coloured Honda NSC 110-M was parked up in the motorcycle bays at the Council-owned car park yesterday, but when the owner returned this morning (Monday) they discovered it had disappeared.
It is unclear when exactly the 10-month-old moped was stolen, or the direction it was taken in.
The registration mark is HW72 FCN.
Police have been informed of the theft and are conducting enquiries.
UPDATE @ 09:24 – Thanks to the power of social media, the vehicle has been successfully recovered in nearby Crescent Road.

It is NOT a moped. Where are the Pedals?
10 people stuck in the 50’s. The DVLA class them as mopeds, google it. And I am sure the owner is pleased to see your idiotic comment. Got off your arse and go help to look for it.
It’s 109cc so classed as a motorcycle.
A moped has an engine of less than 50cc and a maximum speed of 45kph.
Mopeds haven’t had peddles fitted since about the late 70’s.
Why are people so scum and stealing from people that are trying so hard , probably needed for work and had either borrowed money or saved up. If you are the scum hope Karma gets you. Good luck to the owner.
More dragged up scumbags will be along soon, they lurk everywhere, it’s not difficult to spot then because they all wear the same uniform and speak the same language…..Bring back Borstal…
Borstals were the primary place to learn new skills, like car theft, burglary, fighting and fraud! They came out of those places with a decree in illegal practices… but at least they were off the streets for a few months.
From experience
You are very very wrong
Fighting yes but the rest you must have seen on films.
Well said, someone very close to me was in one
Have you ever been in a Borstal or even an approved school if you have then you will be aware that these places were very strict. And now there are no borstals or approved school, due to the fact that the brothers were far to strict.
I can’t believe all your comment. Hope the poor person find his back or maybe the police can do their job check all cameras, roads…most houses have a ring camera or someone must of seen something. Instead of all your nasty vile pointless comments on here why doesn’t everyone just be kind and be quiet. Hope he/she finds bike. It’s hard enough for the young to get a bike/moped pay their insurance without lowlifes stealing. Get a life you people! Either help or shut up
I don’t know which comment you are referring to but well said anyway.
– Unfortunately it seems to be too much to expect the Police to do their job, in my experience of repeatedly reporting drug running in my area and being continuously ignored.
When we first moved to the island 28 years ago, people didn’t bother to lock their cars – it was low crime back then.
How things have changed !
The Island is not the place it use to be, the Island is ridden with crime.
My Father informed IW Council, Ryde District Steward and Island Roads about a dumped van down
Great Preston Road.
Months later the Van is still parked outside 115 Great Preston Road.
I hope the Moped gets found, but don’t hold your breath, the authorities on the Island
could not catch a cold, they are useless.
