UPDATED: Police on the ground and in the air are tonight (Wednesday) searching the Shanklin and Apse Heath areas.
The National Police Air Support Helicopter from Bournemouth is currently circling the Apse Manor Road area with several units on the ground surrounding America Wood.
Police are reported to have responded to the area at around 20:45, with the Police helicopter flying into the equation at 21:00.
Unconfirmed reports suggest officers are looking for a male aged in his 20s with a beard who is wearing a grey tracksuit.
The search continues.
UPDATE @ 22:30 – The NPAS Helicopter has now left the scene having cleared open areas.
It has been confirmed Police are looking for a suspect and that enquiries continue.
