Emergency services have been mobilised to St Lawrence this afternoon (Saturday) where a car has slid over a grass verge and has been left balancing precariously.
Officers from Hampshire & Isle Constabulary alongside firefighters from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to St Lawrence Shute in the South Wight at around 13:50.
The incident has seen a red Volvo roll a short distance down the road coming to rest in a precarious position on a grass verge.
A closure has been put in place at both ends of the road with traffic also blocked on Seven Sisters Road from the adjoining junction and Fishers.
Firefighters have used specialist equipment to stabilise the vehicle and stop it from falling whilst they wait for recovery agents from Bartletts to arrive.
Island Echo understands that the road is still blocked.

You can’t park there mate….
You must be the absolute life and soul of any party.

“Hang on a minute, lads. I’ve got a great idea.”
Theres something not right here on the Island and by this I’m not suggesting witchcraft but that someone is using the butterfly effect to arrive at a very specific event.
it’s not the butterfly effect it’s just island drivers
It hasn’t slid down a verge, it has rolled. It must have been parked insecurely to start with.
When I was a teen, I forgot the hand brake and my car ended up in a similar situation. My grampy and his van came with tow strap and hauled my car out. I didn’t have 10 firemen and two fire appliances.
more good quality driving on the island and i bet they did there driving test there too
Do things like that not happen on the mainland then?
Did it have an electric ‘hand’ brake or some other gimmicky device. ?
