Over 7,000 NHS and other health and social care staff across the Isle of Wight have now received their COVID-19 jab, it has been revealed.
Incredible efforts by the team at the St Mary’s Hospital vaccination hub means a total of 7,185 vaccinations have been carried out to date (as of 29th January).
It’s thought this number includes NHS staff working at St Mary’s and in the community, care home staff and other health workers, as well as the 400+ transport staff vaccinated under the programme.
Amazingly, 93% of NHS staff on the Isle of Wight have now received their first vaccination dose. It’s understood there are around 3,000 NHS staff members locally.
Figures for the total number of Islanders vaccinated across the other 4 sites so far have not been revealed, although it is estimated that over 30,000 people have now been vaccinated on the Island.
It is known that 266,000 people have been vaccinated across both Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Get GPS done too stop them hiding behind phone lines…if your lucky enough too get through.getting paid too do pretty much fa
Standard covid excuses
Many patients who are triaged by GPs over the phone do not need to see patients face to face as a lot can do this by history. If they feel they need to see a patient F2F they will bring them in. GPs can see up to 30 patients a day in a small room environment making it extremely risky if some have COVID. They are protecting themselves, their patients and their families.
Now that we have the vaccine, things should slowly get back to normal. Concerning the pay. Spend 6 years studying to be a doctor add on the years spent as a junior doctor working on the wards where they continue studying and their education, then add on to that the years they spend training to become a GP (3 years) then I think that they have earned the right to be paid well.
I think if you want to have a dig about pay then may I suggest you look at other sections of society, such as bankers and CEOs. Study, and work hard and the rewards generally come.
Fantastic news they are truly doing an amazing job let’s hope those in the NHS that haven’t had the jab get it soon .
Certainly deserve it .
