Newport IW Football Club welcome current league leaders Salisbury FC to St George’s Park tomorrow evening (Tuesday) in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division.
Salisbury have made a good start to the season and sit top of the table with four wins from six matches, although they have played one game more than Andover Town, Blackfield & Langley and Horndean.
Steve Claridge’s new squad aren’t shy in front of goal. The Whites have banged in 22 goals in the last three games, which includes their FA Vase away win at Wincanton (1-8) and their home league victory over a depleted Bournemouth side (9-0).
Amazingly, no league team has managed to score against them on their travels yet.
Newport IW have had a tough start to their campaign. No away league points as yet, but the home league win against Alresford Town last time out (4-0) was encouraging to see. The Hampshire Senior Cup win at home to Fawley (3-1) shows The Port are a decent outfit at St George’s Park.
New signings Ashley Gulliver and Liam Slavin are fitting in well and with Joe Butcher on the brink of a return from suspension, manager Andy Sampson has plenty of options going forward, with Jimmi Burton, Liam Bennett, Connor Kelly and Josh Maloney all pushing for a first team start.
Kick off at St George’s Park will be at 19:45 with LIVE match commentary, team sheet and news on the club’s Match Feed page from 19:30.
