Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones has reiterated her commitment to tackling the issues that matter most to you.
On Wednesday evening (22nd April), she appeared alongside Chief Constable Alexis Boon in her latest live Q&A session, COPS.
The COPS event (Commissioner’s Oversight of Policing Services) was streamed across three Facebook pages: the PCC’s, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary’s.
Just under 200 questions were pre-submitted for the hour-long session.
A number of topics were covered by the PCC and Chief Constable including anti-social behaviour, e-scooters, speeding, police visibility and road safety among others.
PCC Donna Jones said:
“My job is to work for the public and COPS gives me an opportunity, on their behalf, to hold the Chief Constable to account.
“The public really feel strongly about policing and it’s important taxpayers have a say in the service they pay for.
“My pledge when I was elected in 2021 was to introduce more police officers, open more police stations, drive down crime and make our communities safer.
“We have an outstanding Chief Constable and the work he and his team are doing is fantastic and I’m extremely grateful for that but there’s always work to be done.
“There are still too many speeding and noisy vehicles on our roads – I’m dealing with that through major investment in road safety projects. There are still far too many e-scooters out there – I’m dealing with that. I am listening and taking action.
“I want to thank everyone who watched COPS or who submitted a question. Your participation and feedback are invaluable.”
The COPS recording is available to watch on the PCC’s website at COPS meetings – Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner.

Speeding is the number 1 problem I have seen on this
small island.
The island needs a strong Mayor like Sir Sadiq Khan
He has STOPPED vehicles speeding!
20mph is plenty, it saves lives.
If you think khan is a strong mayor, you need mental health help,he has made london a no go area and downright dangerous he put muslims above all others, but you have let slip you are a liebour voter!
He does have mental issues he drives an EV..is there any real world evidence that 20 mph has saved any lives? We all know it’s worse for pollution, business, all clean air zones are a scam for money..
Nothing wrong with an EV better than being a
Numpty and paying £2 a litre for dirty diesel.
Mental where do you think everything comes from to you?.. diesel that’s what ..such a twat.ill suppose you be voting greens next..
Not that I agree with excessive 20mph limits (unlike EiE)
but there’s plenty of ‘real world evidence’ (it’s not difficult to find, or cross-reference / validate).that 20mph limits, in apropriate places, do reduce casualties from RTCs.
but of course, from the evidence of your previous posted comments on IE, it’s obvious that any fact that doesn’t agree with your personal view of how you want things to be, you simply claim is a scam…
20mph saves lives.
Majority of motorists I see drive excessively and
many of them go so fast they cross over central
reservation markings
You have obviously never been to London
it is not a NO go zone it is vibrant and diverse.
You really know nothing,i worked in London for over 30 years, youknow nothing about what it has become, and yes, diverse it sure is,its the diverse that are committing most of the crimes, its one of the most unsafe cities in the world now, khan has done a great job of making it awful, and you banging on about diversity is laughable, ask the people, especially women if they like the diversity, idiots like you make my blood boil, take your blinkers off,and get down from your ivory tower, you utter, utter, hypocrite!
“you have let slip you are a liebour voter!”
On the contrary, his comment on the “LOCAL DOCTOR BIDS TO BECOME COUNCILLOR” article, where he comments that someone who disagrees with him, must be “another lawbreaking Numpty.”..
is a dead give-away that he is a Reform voter !!
(that sort of comment, is straight out of the Farage / Trump play-book)
Now, that’s a new one on me, LIEBOUR.
Sadiq Khan….
Knife Crime UP
Burglaries UP
Rough Sleeping UP
Rape and Sexual Abuse crimes UP
The list goes on
The island have their fair share of crime considering
the low population.
Maybe you have not been reading all the crime
stories on Island Echo
Really? I was in a London 20mph zone last week & a car was going so fast it ended up in a restaurant. Luckily it was closed up for the night & the staff were clearing up at the back. Unfortunately a pedestrian was hit & is seriously ill in hospital. 20mph isn’t enforced
No one can stop an isolated incident
that can happen anywhere in the world at
any time.
I am talking about 24/7 365 days a year
Numpties speeding on island roads.
DON’T TELL ME YOU HAVEN’T NOTICED!
IF YOU HAVE NOT NOTICED I RECOMMEND A
VIST TO SPECSAVERS.
Worth every penny.
sadly those of us who do not use Facebook were unable to attend.
I bet they wouldn’t take any questions on how much advantage there would be to actual policing, if Donna’s post and Empire were abolished immediately and the millions she costs us diverted directly into policing.
I still cheer when I see a police officer on foot as it is so rare!! Lol.
It’s like spotting for white tailed eagles..
Or a grey squirrel
Lol
Or a street cleaner
I used to ask them if they were lost and did they need directions back to the police station, but as I haven’t seen either a police officer on the beat or an open police station for at least a decade, I’ve been deprived of even that small pleasure.
Try your local Costa
Can’t afford Costa any more. I imagine only serving, but skiving police officers can.
