A 36-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murdering Shanklin man David Johns has been bailed by Police.
Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that the unnamed man, who was himself injured during the ‘altercation’ at an address on St John’s Road, Shanklin, has been released from custody.
The investigation remains ongoing, but the 36-year-old prime suspect has, for now, been bailed with conditions. He must answer bail on 23rd May.
It’s known that the male was arrested on suspicion of murder on the night of Monday 25th April. He was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital with what is understood to be knife wounds to his stomach and earlier this week was released from hospital and into custody for questioning.
As previously reported by Island Echo, grandfather David Johns was found dead after Armed Police and medics descended on a property near the junction with Orchardleigh Road. Yesterday his family paid tribute to the Brentford football fan.
Police say they will provide further updates on their investigation when they are in a position to do so.
2 women previously arrested on suspicion of murder have been released with no further action to be taken against them.
Anyone with concerns or information can contact the Police on 101, quoting Operation Marigold or 44220162095.
It’s really weird to read someone has been bailed when they have possibly murdered someone. Years ago, a murder suspect would not have been allowed to walk around free, they would have been kept on remand until their court date. How times have changed!
I agree but he hasn’t been charged so there isn’t any court date as it stands at the moment.
Good news a killer gets bail.Wtf?
He’s not a killer, maybe read what’s happening or in fact mind your business , it was self defense he’s never done it before so why would he do it again, you don’t understand it was either kill or be killed
You seem to know a lot about it.
I passed the house today and police presence was noted. Lovely tributes outside of the house.♥️ Rest well
