A motorcyclist is being tended to in the road outside Newport Police Station after coming off her bike.
The incident has occurred on Newport High Street, directly outside the town’s police station.
Island Echo understands the rider has been thrown from their motorcycle.
Officers from the Police station are assisting with the incident and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has been alerted.
Traffic is expected to build in the area with motorists advised to avoid the High Street for the time being.
UPDATE @ 14:46 – The female rider -in her 60s – has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital having sustained a minor injury.
It has been confirmed that no other vehicles were involved, but it is thought temporary speed bumps across the carriageway may have potentially played a part in the incident.
The High Street has now fully re-opened.

I went over that myself today. I thought it was poorly signed so I am not surprised someone had an issue with it.
Mind you, it is nowhere near as big as the mountain you have to encounter to go down Ryde pier. You almost needed grappling irons to get over that one last time I went there.
The mountain you have to encounter to go down Ryde pier, keeps the dropped suspension old banger boy racers off the pier….
They taken the rd bump away ….early this morning
typical island Roads don’t think about warning motorcyclist or cyclist of hazards on the roads in a car or in there case a van you don’t notice the bumps in the road motorcyclist and cyclist do
Speed bumps!
Aren’t they called sleeping policemen?
No, sleeping policeman has always been a slang term for speed bumps.
