A motorcyclist has come off their bike and is lying injured in bushes at the side of the road at Brading Downs this afternoon (Friday).
Police are in attendance near the viewpoint car park on Brading Down Road.
Initial reports suggest that no other vehicles are involved in the road traffic incident.
The road remains open but traffic is slow in the area.
UPDATE @ 15:15 – Island Echo understands that a gust of wind knocked the male motorcyclist off his bike. He has sustained leg injuries after coming into contact with the bike.
The casualty is being transferred to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
A second road traffic incident has now also occurred on the same stretch of road, slightly further east on Bully’s Hill. A car has collided with the bank and has lost a wheel as a result.
With the pot holed roads, water filled dips, rain gushing off fields as farmers here can’t be a rsed to dig ditches as farms are often split up and they rent out fields to others who won’t then pay for such.
Then we have deep drops at the edges of the roads, where Island roads just keep adding a deeper depth of tarmac, and then filling the drop to the verge with soft soil, which in all the rain just gets washed away, along with poor led lighting, and even poorer car drivers here. Then we have drainage kerb stones which jut out, causing the elderly to hog the centre of the road, afraid of kerbing their tyres, as the centre ‘white line’ on narrow roads have been banned, THEN it is NO small wonder that motor cycles and cyclists are in constant danger on our dire roads nowadays.
Lets hope the rider is ok, and is soon well enough to sue should the fault be any one of the myriad of likely causes.

Sorry to be Mr Picky – more strange reporting – the news update states – ‘He has sustained leg injuries after coming into contact with the bike’ – one would assume (and hope) that as the rider, he was already ‘in contact with the bike’ for some time prior to the accident…
Can get very windy up there .I’ve been blown about In my Defender before up there .
