Yarmouth RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat was tasked to launch by Solent Coastguard earlier today (Tuesday) to assist some sea sick sailors who were on board a boat with a broken engine.
The volunteer crew mustered at 10:12 and soon launched the lifeboat to go to the aid of the 28ft motor boat that had lost power south west of The Needles.
The engine had failed and with 10 to 15 knots of westerly wind against the ebbing tide, the vessel was drifting making conditions unpleasant for the 2 persons onboard; resulting in them suffering from sea sickness.
Having put an lifeboat crew member onto the disabled motor boat to assess the situation, the coxswain made the decision to tow the vessel to Yarmouth as it was the nearest safe harbour.
Yarmouth Lifeboat returned to her berth and was ready for service at 12:30.
It comes just weeks after Cowes RNLI was launched to sailors suffering from sea sickness near East Cowes, as previously reported.

Now I know why I haven’t taken up sailing !!!!!
Seasickness tablets! Not rocket science.
Make sure theyre on board fgs.
What another waste of vital services
So the RNLI were called to a vessel adrift with no power, not just to two people who were seasick…
