The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) has been scrambled to Ryde this afternoon (Tuesday) due to an ongoing medical emergency in the town centre. Flying doctors were tasked at around 14:20, making the trip from their Thruxton base, before landing on the playing fields at Ryde School at around 14:55. Medics – kitted up with all their specialist gear – had just a short walk to make it to the scene of the emergency on the nearby Victoria Street. A single fire appliance from Ryde was the first unit on scene at around 14:30 due to the current pressures on the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, with a Critical Care Paramedic, Operational Commander and an ambulance joining them at the scene shortly after. It is unclear as to the exact nature of the injuries sustained by the casualty(s).

I don’t agree. The facts are as given, the article isn’t making anything up. Some reader may be able to add to the story. Island Echo quite rightly want to be first with news, and that’s why we read it. The story can build over time, but we heard it here first.
Why does IE always have to first with the news – it just seems to be an ego thing for them
IE are not always the first with news. A lot of reports come in from third parties and pretty much all the evening papers will report the same issues, photos and statements made to be included in their evening edition. Running a daily paper means initial information can be sketchy and may need to run a story over several days. The County Press also runs the same news, albeit a little later as they only publish once a week, but they will have had time to collate the fuller facts to the reader.
