Over 200 Christmas cards featuring designs from local children have been sent out by the Mayor of Ryde this December.
Network Ryde worked with Mayor Michael Lilley to put together a Christmas card design competition for the young people of Ryde.
The idea behind the competition was to get the top 4 designs printed and sent to Ryde residents who would appreciate a Christmas card this year. Dover Park Primary and Oakfield Primary schools all submitted entries with school years ranging from Year 2 to Year 10, alongside children from Network Ryde.
Altogether there were 232 entries.
The winners include Evie O (Oakfield Year 6), Aisha (Dover Park Year 6), Poppy (Dover Park Year 2) and Rosie (Ryde Academy Year 10).Runners up were Harry H (Dover Park Year 3) and Brooklyn (Oakfield Year 3).
Special mentions go to Grace and Ruby (Oakfield Year 6) for their amazing cards, which were sadly too difficult to print due to them being 3D.
Councillor, Michael Lilley, the Mayor of Ryde, has said:
“I was totally overwhelmed by the fantastic artistic ability of our children in Ryde. The designs submitted were brilliant. There was even a rap card for the Mayor, which was brilliant. It was so hard to decide on the final four. These special cards will be sent to Ryde residents who are nominated by local residents and voluntary sector organisations to give a special thank you for their kindness to others during the Covid19 pandemic.”
Evie from Oakfield Primary School said she was so excited to have her design chosen…
“I had been looking for a drawing of a robin for ages as we have one that visits our garden and we called him Tiberius”.
