Reports of a man falling and injuring himself onboard a vessel at Medina Yard in Cowes prompted an emergency response from coastguards, paramedics and Police this afternoon (Monday).
It was at around 15:20 that it was reported to HM Coastguard that an individual had sustained an injury after falling on a vessel – although it is not clear if this vessel was afloat or ashore.
Coastguard Rescue Teams from The Needles and Ventnor were mobilised to the scene off Pelham Road, alongside paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Around 20 minutes later, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was informed of the incident – on the apron of Diverse Marine – and the assistance of Police was requested, to what has been described by the force as a medical incident.
The casualty was recovered from the vessel and passed into the care of paramedics for onward conveyance to St Mary’s Hospital. It is thought ropes were utilised.
