A man in his 70s has died following an incident in Seaclose Park yesterday afternoon (Monday).
As Island Echo first reported, 4 police units alongside an Isle of Wight Ambulance Service paramedic crew were called to the vicinity of a woodland walk in the park at just before 13:00.
The Thames Valley Air Ambulance was also called to the scene, with a police cordon being erected around the area to provide ‘privacy’ for the casualty, who had been found by a member of the public following what Police have called a ‘medical episode’.
An appeal was later launched by officers to try and identify the man, whose bike was also at the scene, and to try and contact his relatives.
Sadly, Island Echo can now confirm that the 78-year-old man has passed away following the incident despite the best efforts of the public and the emergency services. His next of kin have been informed.
Hampshire Constabulary say his death is not being treated as suspicious.
