A man who was found unconscious and unresponsive on a boat by Police in East Cowes died from drug use, an inquest has heard.
52-year-old IT assistant, David Puxley, was pronounced dead after officers attended a boat on which he resided in February of last year.
An inquest into Mr Puxley’s death heard that officers attended the vessel in East Cowes Marina after the deceased’s mother contacted emergency services. She said that one of Mr Puxley’s cats had gone missing and that he was upset as a result.
This week’s hearing detailed how the night before his death, Mr Puxley, who had a history of drug addiction and had been seeking help with the issue, believed someone was breaking into his boat and set off a fire extinguisher around the interior.
A toxicology report revealed drug levels consistent with an overdose. The cause of death was noted as cardiac arrest and amphetamine/methamphetamine toxicity.
Coroner Caroline Sumeray recorded the death as drug related.

Any children recruited by these evil dealers as runners are likely to have very troubled and damaged lives.
May Mr Puxley rest in peace.
Do you believe the same should be done to alcohol then? half of my family’s lives have been destroyed by alcohol.
not to mention shops that happily sell multiple packs of paracetamol – which is lethal and a very painful death if too much is taken at once.
some responsibility must sit with the person who chooses to consume the drug – if there was no demand, there would be no dealers.
