Face painting, fossil identification and organisations including the Natural History Museum and The Mary Rose Museum will be at Dinosaur Isle Museum in Sandown for a free family event this month.
The Culver Parade based attraction is holding its annual ‘Blast From the Past’ event on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd November between 10:00 and 16:00 each day.
The free event celebrates fossil collecting from the Isle of Wight and the local region. It also gives visitors a chance to talk to experts, natural historians and local collectors.
There will also be a chance to handle items from the Mary Rose, take part in plaster cast painting and make models.
Visitors are encouraged to bring along any fossils they may have which can be identified. There is also the chance to go on a fossil hunting walk.
Councillor Ian Stephens, Executive member for tourism, culture and heritage, said:
“This is a popular annual event hosted by the museum that features activities and displays for all ages.
“It has been a very big year for Dinosaur Isle, with record visitor numbers in August and recently welcoming its one millionth visitor since it opened in 2001.”
