Individuals, charities and other organisations that have benefitted from the thousands of pounds raised by the Long Lane Christmas Lights over the past 25 years are being invited to the big switch-on next Saturday (30th November).
Terry and Sue Ramplin have been decorating their house in festive lights for a quarter of a century, generating literally tens of thousands of pounds for local good causes in the process.
A staggering £5,774 was raised for IW Prostate Cancer Support Group last year – that’s more than any other single year since the couple started their display in 2000.
Over the past 10 years alone the Ramplins have raised just under £45,000 for local charities.
It’s said that 2024 will be the last big display for the Ramplins, as they look to wind things down during their retirement. So to mark the last big switch on, all those who have benefitted from the Ramplin’s efforts – and other members of the public – are invited to help switch on this year’s display.
The big event will take place on Saturday 30th November at 18:00.
Long Lane Christmas Lights is once again featuring in Island Echo’s Light up the Wight. You can read more about the competition and keep an eye out for our annual map at www.islandecho.co.uk/xmas.
