Despite a very wet December, over £4,000 has been raised for 2 Island charities thanks to Terry & Sue Ramplin’s Christmas Lights display at Long Lane in Newport.
Each year Terry and Sue invite members of the public to enjoy their magical display of lights – a festive tradition which has been taking place for 20 years.
Thanks to the support of local businesses and the thousands of families who visited Long Lane last month, a bumper total of £4,300 has been raised for 2 Island charities – The Wight Brainy Bunch and John’s Club.
Representatives from the 2 organisations met at Terry and Sue’s house earlier on today (Friday) to receive their cheques.
The success of 2019’s display means that the Ramplins have raised a staggering £26,179 for charity since 2014 alone.
For the past 3 years, Long Lane has been the Star Display in the Light up the Wight Christmas Lights competition, brought to you by Island Echo, Southern Vectis and Utilita. A total of 1,100 votes were cast in this year’s competition which saw Wellesley Way crowned the winner.
It has been confirmed that Long Lane Christmas Lights will return in 2020, albeit a smaller display with no official lights switch on event.
Terry and Sue would like to thank everyone who has helped with this year’s display.
