Luke Orton, whose life changed dramatically after sustaining a severe injury during the Isle of Wight Rugby Sevens tournament in Ryde last year, is to receive vital support to help his rehabilitation thanks to a national gala dinner being held in London next week.
The Regain Gala Dinner, a fundraising event dedicated to supporting people with tetraplegia, aims to raise £100,000 to directly benefit the charity’s ongoing projects, supporting people living with tetraplegia.
One beneficiary is Luke, who is paralyzed from the chest down as a result of a neck fracture and spinal cord injury. The Gala is expected to raise a staggering £20,000 for the former rugby player, which will help adapt his family home, enabling him to finally leave the hospital and return to his loved one to continue his rehabilitation.
Lord Ivar Mountbatten and Alexander Armstrong will host the highly anticipated gala on Wednesday 6th November at The Peninsula London. This year’s event will be held in the esteemed presence of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh GVCO.
The Gala Dinner is expected to attract a diverse range of attendees, including business leaders, philanthropists, and Regain beneficiaries who share a passion for the charity’s mission. One of the attendees is David Walker, the managing director of A2K Leisure, the company that owns the Albion Hotel in Freshwater.
For those unable to attend the Gala Dinner but still interested in supporting Luke Orton and the Regain charity, there are numerous ways to get involved, such as an online prize draw (£10 per ticket), as well as a silent auction with an array of exclusive luxurious items.
