FaT Samba – a West Wight-based samba band – is on the lookout for new members to join their ‘small but mighty’ group. The group – formed back in 2004 and long established not just in the West Wight but across the Island – currently meets every Monday at Totland Christ Church Annexe on Alum Bay New Road between 18:30 and 20:30. Named after the West Wight area of Freshwater and Totland in which they are based, FaT Samba plays various styles of Samba including; Rio-style, Samba-Reggae, Afro-Cuban and Maracatu and can be seen at events across the Island throughout the year including at carnivals and other Island events. You can also book FaT Samba for fundraising, charity and private hire events too. No experience is needed to get involved with the band with a full training programme offered. Going forward instruments can be loaned from the group and uniform is provided to paying members. The first ‘welcome session’ is free with a cost of £4 per adult per session and £1 for under 18s and students after the fact. For more information visit the FaT Samba website here.
