Bembridge RNLI was tasked to launch last night after fears were raised that three fisherman had become cut off by the tide near Shanklin.
The volunteer-crewed all weather lifeboat (ALB) ‘Alfred Albert Williams’ supported Ventnor Coastguard after concerns were made that a group of fishermen, who were night fishing on Horse Ledge between Luccombe Bay & Shanklin, had become cut off by the tide and required assistance.
Upon the arrival of Bembridge Lifeboat, Newhaven Lifeboat (RNLB 17-21) was stood down after it had initially been tasked to stand by. The lifeboat, on passage from one station to another, was unable to deploy it’s Y boat as the lifeboat only had a skeleton crew on board.
Bembridge launched their own Y boat and headed ashore to talk to the fisherman, who confirmed that they knew the area well, were happy with their situation and did not consider themselves to be in danger.
The ALB returned to Bembridge and was re-housed by 23:45.
