A group of Island skaters will attempt to clock up 10 miles in just 2 hours to raise vital funds for a service supporting cancer patients.
The sponsored challenge will take place at Skates in Newport on Thursday 27th August, with participants hitting the rink between 19:30 and 21:30 in aid of Daisy Ring Bus CIC.
The volunteer-run organisation provides transport for Isle of Wight cancer patients travelling across the Solent to hospitals in Southampton and Portsmouth for treatment and appointments.
Around 2,000 passenger journeys are now made with Daisy Ring Bus every month, helping Islanders access essential care on the mainland.
The cause is particularly close to home for those taking part, with one of the skaters, Tracy, herself a passenger of the Daisy Ring Bus.
Money raised from the challenge will contribute towards fuel, vehicle maintenance and other essential costs involved in keeping the service on the road.
Islanders are being encouraged to support the challenge by sponsoring those taking part or heading along on the night to cheer them on.
Anyone wanting to join the challenge can take part for free, with practice and sign-up sessions being held at Skates between 18:30 and 20:00 every Wednesday evening throughout August.
