2 young Isle of Wight footballers are celebrating after successfully coming through trials to secure places at Portsmouth FC’s Emerging Talent Centre for the 2026/27 season.
Daisy Phillips and Sienna Mortimer, who have both been part of Sandown & Lake FC for a number of years, have been selected to join the Pompey set-up for the coming season.
The pair earned their places following trials, with their Isle of Wight club praising the hard work, passion and determination they have shown during their football journeys so far.
Sandown & Lake FC has described their selection as an “incredible achievement” and says everyone at the club is proud to see 2 of its players taking the next step.
Taking to social media, the club has said:
“We are absolutely delighted to announce that Daisy Phillips and Sienna Mortimer have both been selected from their trials to join Portsmouth FC’s Emerging Talent Centre for the 2026/27 season!
“What an incredible achievement for two of our Sandown & Lake girls! Both have worked so hard, shown huge passion and determination, and this opportunity is so deserved.
“They have been part of Sandown & Lake FC for many years, and we couldn’t be prouder to see two of our own girls take this next step in their football journey.
“Daisy and Sienna, when you pull on that Pompey shirt, remember where it all started… Sandown & Lake FC!
“Keep working hard, keep believing, keep enjoying your football and who knows where this journey could take you… maybe even that England shirt one day!
“We’ll be watching, cheering you on and supporting you every step of the way!”
