The Wightlink Warriors have named Brendan Johnson as the 2016 team Captain.
Brendan, who was the first of the 2016 Warriors to be announced, has previously ridden for the Isle of Wight for 4 season and is hugely popular both on and off the Smallbrook Track.
A delighted Brendan said:
“I feel honoured that the management of the Wightlink Warriors believe in me and what I am going to achieve this season. I am proud to be club captain in 2016 and I’m looking forward to proving to them that they have made the right decision. I feel so pumped right now and cannot wait for the season to start”.
Equally as happy club co-boss Barry Bishop said:
“Martin and I have discussed this appointment between ourselves and with our advisors, and it was a unanimous decision to appoint Brendan as our first Warrior team captain. For the club and our strategy, it is important to have a captain who wants to participate and encourage the team members in activities off the track as well as being the team captain on it and Brendan has this approach to his speedway.
“Brendan has a massive year in front of him and this news shows the club’s and team’s belief in him. With the right support and targets Brendan will, we are sure, make a significant average rise this year and, along with his team mates who all have similar personal objectives, we are confident the Warriors will stand up to be counted this season.”
