Coastguard crews and a local lifeboat were called to assist a jet skier in difficulty off the coast of Yaverland today (Tuesday). At around 15:00, HM Coastguard was asked to assist a jet skier in difficulty and in the water off Yaverland Beach. Coastguard Rescue Teams from both Bembridge and Ventnor were sent to the scene, with the assistance of Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat also requested. The jetskier was brought to shore by the lifeboat and passed into the care of the awaiting crews from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

Jet skis should be banned except for emergency services. They are hired out to fat, drunk men (former boy racers) who ride them into public beaches endangering swimmers and paddling children. They cause both noise and air pollution and disturb marine life.
