Powder Monkey Group, which operates both in the UK and Australia, has announced the acquisition of the Isle of Wight’s Goddard’s Brewery.
Goddards have been brewing fine real ales (craft beers) since 1993, producing around 13.5million pints over the past 3 decades. Originally at Barnsley Farm near Ryde, in 2023 the brewery moved to a bespoke built brewing centre near Arreton.
The business has been up for sale in recent years with Powder Monkey Group now stepping forward to take the helm.
Reassurances have been given that Powder Monkey will continue to brew and sell the Goddards range alongside its current portfolio.
Andy Burdon, CEO of Powder Monkey Group, has said:
“We opened our facilities in Priddy’s Hard, Gosport in 2021. Since then, Powder Monkey beer has been flowing in the Tap House, at events and our award-winning beers are available in can & keg for a wide range of stockists.
“We are delighted that Goddard’s is now part of the group, it adds cask and bottled beer to our portfolio as well as the Heritage associated with the brand”.
Anthony Goddard has added:
“We are delighted to join the family of coastal breweries in the Powder Monkey Group brand portfolio where we join strong brands with equally strong heritages. Since our modest start, we have brewed about 13.5 million pints of Goddards beer over 32 years.”
Powder Monkey Group Limited is made up of Powder Monkey Brewery Gosport (UK, Powder Monkey Tap House Gosport (UK), Willie the Boatman (Australia), and Southern Highlands Brewing Co (Australia), with further acquisitions planned.
This most recent acquisition brings the group’s total number of brewing facilities to 4, together with 3 Hospitality outlets in the UK and Australia.
Mike McGeever, Chairman of PMG, has said:
“Absolutely delighted to welcome Anthony and the team at Goddards to the Powder Monkey Group. This acquisition complements the current UK offering and sufficiently enhances the Group’s capacity and capability. Hampshire and the Isle of Wight very much aligned.”
This is really good news.
Secures brewing at the new site and Powder Monkey Beers are decent.
A welcome upgrade to some of the traditional beers.
Well done to Anthony and the team
As long as they don’t pay peanuts!
I like that..
