New figures show the Isle of Wight is among the best-covered areas in England for life-saving defibrillators.
Independent defibrillator & first-aid training provider defibshop announced the figures in the recently-released 2026 Cardiac Coverage Report (CCR)
According to the dataset, the Isle of Wight has 41.9 defibrillators per 10,000 residents – behind only the Isles of Scilly (89.7) and City of London (219.9).
Since the last CCR, there has been a 12% increase in the number of defibrillators on the Island.
The report suggests that across England there are 61,090 publicly accessible defibrillators (PAD) and 29.922 restricted access defibrillators (RAD).
Major UK brands Tesco, ScrewFix, M&S and Waitrose are amongst those with the most registered defibs.
Kerry Fairhurst, Head of Marketing & eCommerce at defibshop, said:
“It’s reassuring to see the continued efforts of both larger towns and smaller villages in continuing to increase defibrillator access for their residents. Expanding defibrillator coverage is the most effective way to enhance heart-safety in the areas where they are needed the most, alongside proactive defibrillator maintenance and training, of course.
“We thank all our local authorities and communities across the UK for their unwavering commitment to improving accessibility, supporting our mission of improving OHCA survival rates.”

With a large elderly population and a high vaccine
take up rate, great idea having so many.
