Richard Quigley MP has announced the launch of his new week-long Summer Skills Bootcamp, taking place between 27th- 31st July 2026.
This unique experience offers young people aged 18–25, who live in Isle of Wight West, the opportunity to develop practical skills and learn how they can make a difference in our community.
No prior political interest or experience is required. The programme has been designed to build attendees confidence, develop transferable practical skills, and introduce participants to professional working practices in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Participants will get to see the varied work of a constituency MP’s office, including the variety of casework, community engagement, and campaigns Richard and his Isle of Wight West team are working on. It’s hoped the experience will help participants to understand how decisions are made and highlight the ways in which young people can play an active role in improving Island life.
The packed week will also include the opportunity to hear from people, business and community leaders who are all working together to make the Island a great place to live, work and learn.
Richard has established the experience to help address the rising number of young people on the Isle of Wight who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). He therefore welcomes applications from underrepresented groups, those not in education, employment or training (NEET), and those with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
There is no cost to the Summer Skills Bootcamp, but attendees will need to bring packed lunch and cover the cost of travel to and from the constituency office. If you would like to participate but cannot afford to due to financial constraints, email [email protected] to discuss what support may be available.
Richard Quigley MP said:
“Everyone on the island knows that opportunities to work and learn can feel even more out of reach for our young people because of our geography.
“Since being elected almost two years ago, I’ve been absolutely determined not only to champion the island on a national platform, but also to use my office to create opportunities for young people that they might not otherwise have access to.
“I’m really looking forward to reading the applications we receive, and meeting this year’s attendees for what I hope will be the first of many Summer Skills Bootcamps”
For more information including how to apply, please go to Richard’s website www.richard.quigley.org.uk or complete the Summer Skills Bootcamp form here.
Applications close on 31st May. Printed application forms can be provided to candidates on request by emailing [email protected].

Over the last 2 years the majority of businesses are closing
down.
I wonder why!
The sort of youngster’s that should be attending this are precisely the ones that will not be reading the local news or engaging with it. How about some youth clubs?
Ye olde chocolate teapot strikes again with another photo opportunity. The clock is ticking for this Liebor MP and soon he will need somebody to help him back into work. Tik Tok Tik Toc.
Maybe he will join the benefit club when he goes.
Lol
Here he is the good little boy. Obeyed Starmers orders to vote against enquiry into whether he lied in parliament. Pat him on the head and give him a chocolate biscuit good boy Quigerly.
