Isle of Wight teenager Arlo Lambie has sadly died after a battle with cancer, his family have announced.
Arlo, from Cowes, was diagnosed with the grade 4 tumour in October after suffering from multiple migraines. What began as a minor headache quickly spiralled into hydrocephalus, emergency neurosurgery and a daily regimen of radiotherapy and chemotherapy in Southampton.
A fundraiser to help fund Arlo’s specialist treatment was launched late last year with the community rallying around the youngster and his family to raise more than £100,000.
It was back in February that schools across the Isle of Wight took part in a mufti day dubbed ‘Wear What Makes You Happy Day’ in which more vital monies were raised for Arlo.
In between his treatment, the teenager recently enjoyed a trip to the Alps.
Sadly, it has been confirmed by his family that Arlo lost his battle with cancer on Sunday morning (13th April).
A statement from the Lambie family on Arlo’s Just Giving page has said:
“Our beautiful Arlo died peacefully yesterday morning surrounded by the love of family and friends. Arlo held deep appreciation for the wonder and abundance of life and to the end shared it with generosity, love, grace, lightness, humour and compassion.
“Thank you for your incredible support, we look forward to celebrating Arlo and this amazing community with you all soon. Funds raised in Arlo’s name will be used to support causes close to his heart. Wishing you love and peace.”
So very sad. Safe travels Arlo , rest in peace
RIP young man, so very young to die. Condolences to your family. Fly high with the angels XX
