The Isle of Wight College celebrated the success, dedication and talent of apprentices and employers across the Island at its annual Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony, earlier this week.
Held on Thursday 12th February 2026 at the prestigious Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes, the event, during National Apprenticeship Week, brought together industry partners, employers, college leaders, apprentices, and invited guests for an evening recognising excellence in skills development, training, and workforce contribution.
The ceremony opened with a warm welcome from Sara Weech, Chair of Governors, followed by an address from Ros Parker, Principal and Chief Executive. The audience also heard an inspiring keynote speech from Sarah Teague, Strategic Manager for People & Organisational Development at the Isle of Wight Council.
A central part of the evening was the presentation of certificates to apprentices who achieved their apprenticeship standards between March 2025 and January 2026. Their accomplishments reflect outstanding commitment to both professional and personal growth across a diverse range of industries.
Special Awards were presented throughout the evening, recognising exceptional progress, resilience, personal development, and contribution to workplaces and communities. Categories included Excellent Progress in Functional Skills, Outstanding Personal Development, Overcoming Barriers to Learning, Outstanding Contribution by an Apprentice, and the Apprenticeship Resilience Award.
The College also celebrated the invaluable role that employers play in nurturing and championing emerging talent. Awards such as Employer Ambassador Award, Small Employer of the Year, and Employer of the Year highlighted the businesses going above and beyond to invest in apprenticeships.
