A flat fire within a retirement complex in Cowes has resulted in a callout for fire crews from across the Isle of Wight this afternoon (Friday).
At around 14:30, firefighters from Newport, Ryde and Shanklin were called to a ground-floor flat at Briars Court House on Egypt Esplanade in Cowes.
Smoke was issuing as crews arrived, with firefighters in breathing apparatus, tackling the fire with hose reel jets.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service remain on the scene, but further crews which were en route have been stood down.
The incident remains ongoing.
