An Isle of Wight primary school is rallying troops to wear bright, glittery colours this Friday (27th March), supporting the fundraising efforts for 6-year-old Tula Hunt, who was diagnosed with rare Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) earlier this year.
As previously reported by Island Echo, over £85,000 has been raised to help support Tula’s family whilst they take the necessary time off work to be by their daughter’s side at one of the UKs leading paediatric centres, Southampton Children’s Hospital.
Hoping the day will see the current figure of £99,428 reach the £100,000 goal, Nettlestone Primary has organised a day full of Tula’s favourite things, rainbows and unicorns. They are hopeful that schools and businesses Island-wide will wear bright and glittery clothing in exchange for a small donation to the page.
Friends of the family set-up the page to support parents of Tula, Pete and Jo who are juggling Tula’s care and that of her 2 younger siblings, the youngest who was born just days after her diagnosis.
The money will help to cover the costs of living away from home and travel expenses whilst resulting in lost earnings as both parents are self-employed.
Nettlestone Primary School has asked companies and schools to send any pictures to [email protected] so that they can be sent on to Tula, showing the support she is receiving back home.
