No trains are operating between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin this weekend due to maintenance works.
South West Railway have confirmed that the line is closed all day today (Saturday) and again tomorrow for signalling work and line maintenance.
Taxis are operating between Ryde Esplanade and Ryde Pier Head, with a bus replacement service running between Ryde Esplanade and Shanklin.
Little information about the work has been made available and National Rail is reporting a ‘good service’ on the network.
Local residents were sent a letter earlier this week explaining that noisy work would be taking place at St John’s train station this weekend, but there was no mention of a suspension of service.
A bus replacement service is also in operation in the Portsmouth area this weekend meaning double disruption for those travelling to/from the Isle of Wight.

Well the profits for shareholders will really be hit on Mondays stock market opening at 8
Perhaps the two paying customers could share a cab, just this weekend.
Who would love to see all the train stations on the island running again
The lack of information given out by Island Line is discussing. Don’t they have any competent management? Put out signs and tell people what’s going on. Even the staff I asked seemed to be kept in the dark with little information given to them to give out. What’s going on?
Excuse my ignorance but which island is this?
Well lots more to come over the next year in preparation for the new (old) trains
Like all engineering work Plenty of info available if you got out your office and looked
I wanted to go out this weekend with my bike but couldn’t or couldn’t take on bus
its a bike you can still go out if the train isn’t running!
