Police have launched an investigation after a man was allegedly caught filming a young boy getting changed on a beach in Sandown yesterday (Friday).
Hampshire Constabulary were notified of the incident, on the busy stretch of beach in Sandown, after someone saw it being committed and reported it.
The incident in question, happened between the Beach Shack and Sandown Inshore Rescue just past the pier- one of the most popular spots for sunseekers.
Witnesses told the police that they saw that a man was allegedly filming the young boy whilst a parent was helping him change his shorts.
The parent, once notified by the public, reported the man to the police for filming the youngster without her permission.
A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said:
“If anyone witnessed the incident or has any information that could help, please contact police.”

well it is the island
More sickoes are out and about, unfortunately the law allows filming in any public place, you can film anything you can see in a public place….
Your not allowed to take photos or film children full stop
Maybe you have a problem of sorts, you really shouldn’t divulge your address on social media.
Clearly someone has a problem with the ‘addressee and named person’ given as a fake red herring user name, and is hoping others will carry out what they clearly are too gutless to do themselves imo.
Could be wrong and it is, as you suggest some dimbo
Where were the ‘real’ men?…Group of Dad’s should have gone and had a word with this nonce!
Drive them out. You cannot change their sexual preference, just like you can’t change mine as a heterosexual woman. I’m into grown men, no one can change that. Those sick freaks are into kids.
The creature filming that child needs putting to sleep permanently. I still can’t believe, there were no real men around to sort that sicko out!!
People need to start dealing with these types. The island is a paedo haven.
Ought to have just mentioned it to the nearest group of teenagers nearby.
They would I am sure have shown him the error of his ways in a far more meaningful manner than the courts ever will now
You must be joking teenagers today live in a woke society that will not do anything to help others.
Unless you pay them cash.
The little teenager hoodies over here couldn’t fight to get out of a brown paper bag.
Depot the nonce from island to center of London at 3am with nothing but NONCE pinned to his back. He would soon be sorted.
The hard teenagers couldn’t stay a night in Brixton. They would soon be home with their tails between their legs. That’s if they still had knees.
Sounds like a lovely place
Well instead of gawping at the event, then telling the mother, why didn’t the person take a picture of the man allegedly filming the kid???
or if no phone, then why not say something as it was going on?
Was the man wearing a Civil Enforcement Officers uniform? One of those was lurking around with his photographic equipment outside my kids’ primary school. Till he got caught.
Poor mother to see her son defiled by sordid paedophilic attempt to gather material for his perverted pleasure. If it happens again maybe a member of the public would photograph the evil photographer for Police identification.
And nobody just ‘twatted’ him there and then?
They would have been done for ABH, GBH or at least assault. They would have got more punishment then the person filming the little boy.
Wrong we know, but that is our law.
Plus British law innocent until proven guilty.
The gutless ALWAYS use the excuse why they never acted saying, the person doing the punishment would have got more sentence than the pedo.
BUT IF as it is, the law is now so weak for those who break it, then it is so for all.
All the person has to do is say he (the pedo) started the attack when challenged.
At worst a feeble fine, which crowd funding would more than cover I am sure.
The pleasure of knowing you had broke the jaw and teeth of a pedo would make any punishment a joy to have.
GBH? Probably a prison sentence so not a lot of joy in that.
As most of those victims relations which Geldof saved are now filling our jails, would be very unlikely to end up with a prison sentence for a first time arrest especially if using no weapons for space in prison is most limited nowadays and always will be thanks to enrichment of society
Before jumping to conclusions, could it be possible the person was taking a selfie and not watching the boy at all?
Benefit of the doubt!!!
Omg sick twisted idiot!! Why did someone not take the camera off of him???
Even a cursory internet search, on many police force websites, reveals that there is nothing illegal about taking images of people, even other peoples children, in a public space, if that’s what he was actually doing.
I understand and totally agree with the concerns of the parents but, at a time when the police have very recently been absolutely, officially, slammed for failing to investigate bona fide thefts, burglaries and car thefts properly, you have to wonder at the performance of the local police who choose instead to ‘launch an investigation’, with all that entails, into the possibility that an unknown man hasn’t broken the law.
Hold on, before we send out a lynching party, maybe as someone else has already pointed out, the person was not photographing the child at all?
Could have been a general beach shot, could have been their own kid being filmed further off, could have been a selfie…could have been any number of things.
Why do so many people jump to conclusions without knowing anything about what happened? It happens time after time on here and on CP.
Because Cath, as YOU must read on here, the Police rarely attend any crime now, so considering there are tens of thousands of pictures taken on beaches ever single day, then CLEARLY the Police believed there WAS a likely issue here.
IF the ‘reluctant’ Police ‘assumed so’ the it is only right and fair that we, the general public would ‘assume so’ also, HENCE the reasonable discussion and points of view.
IF it bothers you, then wait until, IF EVER, the case comes to court and then ‘read’ about the £20 fine and having to sign the se x offender bill ‘harsh punishment’ later on here on the Echo court case page.
How can you say this he was filmed by a creep he was caught on cctv
doing it if you know anything please reply
guys stay safe we should have a right if privacy
If you did attack him you would get harsher sentence than him,Fact I know
Very hard to prove who did what damage though if a group of people suddenly pounced upon the cretin.
Only takes one silent person to follow such home.
what a waste of time and getting the police invoved , better off to speak to the parent then both go to the photgrapher give himw a mouthful in front of witnesses make sure he or she is embarest , this might get him to think twice , a slap on the wrist by authorirties wont do a lot
