A report compiled by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) has said Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is inadequate at tackling Serious and Organised Crime (SOC).
During the inspection it was noted that the force needs to make sure it has enough personnel to process intelligence reports as well as making sure that staff know that tackling SOC crime is a priority, although the report noted that their wasn’t enough intelligence resource to meet demand.
Inspectors also found that the force were seldom updating their local profiles and that some of the existing profiles were of very little benefit to the officers using them.
The report criticised the fact that several offenders who had been issued with Serious Crime Prevention Orders were not being actively managed within specialist teams.
Several recommendations within the report have been given strict time frames at which changes need to be made.
Other forces named within the report include Surrey Police, Sussex Police and Thames Valley Police.
