A woman who took a tumble on the revetment at Wheelers Bay in Ventnor had to be stretchered to an awaiting ambulance by Coastguards yesterday dinnertime (Monday). HM Coastguard was mobilised to the South Wight coast at just before 17:00 after a woman suffered an injury as a result of a fall. Coastguard Rescue Officers from Bembridge and Ventnor provided initial casualty care ahead of the arrival of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service. The casualty was then stretchered to the awaiting ambulance for onward conveyance to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.

Seems to me, that the Victorians had the right idea of installing railings on any dangerous areas where members of the public could injure themselves.
Yet until someone sues the council, ie us, the council taxpayers, little is done to prevent such from happening.
I suggest that any compensation from such is taken direct from the top level councillors salary to perhaps make them more astute in further safety issues, as now, apart from a lame apology it doesn’t adversely effect those responsible.
Can it be reported what happened to this woman?
