Independent candidate Becca Cameron has been elected to the Isle of Wight Council following her success in the Freshwater South by-election this morning (Friday).
Becca finished ahead of Reform UK’s Bill Nigh (269) and Conservative Warren Whyte (147).
A total of 1,098 people turned out to vote. A total of 749 in person votes were cast and 347 postal votes were completed. The overall turnout was 36.45%.
Speaking to Island Echo, Becca has said:
“The people of Freshwater have spoken – they have stood up to fight to protect our beautiful area before it is destroyed forever.”
“I will fight tooth and nail for my amazing community and to protect all that we love and cherish.”

Congratulations Becca. Local councils need more independent members who ar there to represent the people at council not tell people what one of the political parties tells them to say. Good luck with your endeavours.
Except that we have an Independent Council and they are making a pig’s ear of running the Island.
