The main entrance at St Mary’s Hospital will be getting a facelift from today (Saturday), meaning there are some changes to accessing the main hospital over the next 2 months.
The new entrance will see the existing canopy replaced, and improved lighting.
During the works, there will be periods of time where the main entrance, drop-off and parking area will need to be closed to accommodate installation of scaffolding, crane lifts and delivery of materials.
Throughout September and October, access to the main entrance and use of the drop-off and parking area will be unavailable on the following dates:
- Saturday 6th September and Sunday 7th September (including overnight)
- Wednesday 10th September from 06:30 to 09:00
On Wednesday 15th October, there will be no access to the drop off/parking area, however, the main entrance access will still be accessible.
There will be a further full closure of the drop off/parking area and main entrance on the following dates:
- Thursday 16th October 06:30 to 11:30 full closure
- Saturday 18th October and Sunday 19th October (including overnight)
During the main entrance closures, visitors and staff will be redirected to access the hospital via the Day Surgery Entrance.
Completion of works are expected to be finalised by Monday 20th October.

Coincidence that Q&A has just had an entrance makeover, hearding you past a new food outlet.
The entrance is quite functional at St Marys, spend the money on staff and equipment instead.
Oh, Will miss Dolly P’s bra!
Hardly a face lift. The canopy is being replaced as it is at the end of its working life. This is work to ensure its safety. No wonder people leave negative reviews claiming a waste of NHS money when they see the words ‘face lift’.
Are they spending money on the right priorities
Where are they funding the money from to make the improvements I thought the NHS is under funded well that’s a load of crap
