A pair of 3-bedroom houses could replace vacant office space in the historic centre of the Isle of Wight’s county town.
Council planners have received an application from Peter Groves of Niton Developments Ltd for a conversion of offices at 15 and 16 Quay Street in Newport.
The address was previously home to accountancy firm A. H. Cross and Co.
A submitted statement from Mr Groves’s agent, Macaire associates, says:
“These are a pair of former town houses, that have for many decades been used as offices.
“The conversion given their original use is easily achieved, as all the internal fabric still exists, minimal works are therefore required to effect the change.
“The site is located within the Historic Town Centre of Newport – as such it is in a very sustainable location, within walking distance of all facilities and amenities.
“There are a number of car parks within easy walking distance, all of which offer residents parking permits.”
County Hall’s public consultation on proposal 25/00917/FUL ends on 1st August and a decision is expected on 21st August.
Let’s see what planning decides.
