A ‘high-quality’ family home with direct beach access will be built in Gurnard following approval of a planning application.
Applicants Keats and Simanke have been granted planning permission to construct a 4-bedroom house with a garage at 60 Solent View Road in Gurnard.
The proposed building will replace a house the council gave consent to demolish in January last year.
A Design and Access statement prepared by Studio Dot said:
“The goal of the revised proposal is to maximise the views towards the sea from the principal living spaces, respond sensitively to the existing topography of the site by stepping the building down towards the west and create a contemporary dwelling that retains a traditional influence, appropriate to the varied character of the surrounding area.
“The site is a large plot with a private rear garden that extends through trees and planting all the way to Gurnard Bay, offering direct beach access.
“The site is well-screened from neighbouring properties and the road by established hedging and planting on the northeast and southwest boundaries.
“Notably, the site benefits from expansive views across the Solent to the north and northwest.”
Planners concluded ‘no other dwellings would be affected by the proposal’ which would ‘not result in unacceptable impacts on the character of the area’ in a decision report.
Gurnard Parish Council made no objection to application 25/00749/FUL.

Hopefully they will not encroach their entitled life onto the beach area like some have done
Wouldn’t surprise me, many homeowners take the
p*ss.
It’s about time the council tax system was
overhauled, many households are still paying the
same band for over 30 years even though many
improvements have been carried out.
It’s a complete farce.
