A yellow weather warning for heavy rain across the Isle of Wight has been issued by IW Met Service for tomorrow (Thursday). Forecasters say that large rainfall totals will affect the Island throughout Thursday afternoon and evening, which has prompted a warning to be issued for a 13-hour period between 13:00 tomorrow and 02:00 on Friday. Islanders are being warned about the risk of flood in the usual prone areas, with soil, silt and gravel being washed across the roads and walkways. Jamie Russell, Chief Forecaster at IW Met Service, says:
“Computer models suggest a whole range of final rainfall amounts, from 10-15mm on some models but closer to 20-30mm on others. At this point, we think that 15-20mm is rather likely across many areas but still with the risk of larger totals up to 40mm in the worst affected areas”.
