Healthwatch Isle of Wight is calling on local residents to take part in a new survey about GP services, launched to better understand people’s experiences of accessing and using their practice.
The survey comes as changes to the NHS GP contract, which came into force on 1st October 2025, begin to shape how services are delivered. Healthwatch Isle of Wight is keen to hear directly from people about what is working well and where improvements may be needed.
Access to general practice remains the most common issue people contact Healthwatch Isle of Wight about, making this survey a key opportunity to build a clearer picture of current challenges and identify where improvements are most needed.
Open to all Island residents who have recently contacted or used their GP practice, the survey will gather feedback on areas such as access, communication, and overall experience of care.
Joanna Smith, Healthwatch Isle of Wight, said:
“We know how important GP services are to people’s day-to-day health and wellbeing. This survey is an opportunity for residents to tell us honestly about their experiences – both positive and negative. Their feedback will play a vital role in helping shape future improvements to local services.”
The findings will be published in a report in summer 2026 and shared with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System to support ongoing development of GP services across the region.
The survey can be completed online at: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/06GBRY/ or via a link on the following website: www.healthwatchisleofwight.co.uk
The closing date for responses is Friday 12th June 2026.

I didn’t know GP’s still exist in 2026 Britain
Since the pandemic they have all been shirking from home.
You have more chance of the ferry companies reducing fares
than getting an appointment with a GP
