Islanders are being invited to turn the Isle of Wight yellow in support of Mountbatten’s expert end-of-life care services.
Go Yellow 2025 will take place on Friday 10th October, with Mountbatten Isle of Wight encouraging everyone to wear, eat, sell or do something yellow – all to help raise vital funds for its 24/7 care, delivered both in homes across the Island and at its Newport hospice.
From custard baths to yellow car washes and themed raffles, the community is being asked to get creative and turn Mountbatten’s signature colour into a symbol of hope and support.
You can take part by visiting www.mountbatten.org.uk/forms/goyellow2025-signup to let the team know your plans. You can also call 01983 217300 or email [email protected] (use “Go Yellow” in the subject line). Tag Mountbatten on social media using #GoYellow2025 and don’t forget to send in photos and stories of your event for the official blog.
Some of the fun ideas Mountbatten suggests include hosting a yellow-themed cake sale, sitting in a bath of custard, running a car wash for yellow vehicles, auctioning yellow items, holding a yellow raffle, or wearing yellow at work, school, or your local sports match. Shops could sell yellow flowers or books and donate proceeds to Mountbatten.
If you don’t have an event of your own, you can still take part by visiting Mountbatten’s John Cheverton Centre café in Newport between 6th–10th October, where a Big Yellow High Tea for Two will be available. To book, call 01983 217342.
And if you’ve got nothing yellow to wear, Mountbatten’s charity shops will have just the thing – keep an eye on their special yellow-themed window displays.
Mountbatten’s Go Yellow organiser Harri McNeil said:
“Go Yellow on 10th October is a brilliant way to support Mountbatten Isle of Wight in a way that works for you.
“Dress up, eat cake or raffle yellow items – there are so many ways to get involved.
“We’ll be running a blog, so do tell us what you’re up to. That way, we can help share your event. Good luck – and whatever you do, make it yellow!”
